Otherwise a good experience but there was no chance to get an insurance with zero deductible amount. That made the experience a bit stressful since all the damage (including those caused by someone else) would have been charged from us up to a few thousand euros.

The statements in the reservation system that you can pick up and drop off the car at the airport in Punta Arenas is false advertising. Avis (EMSA) does not have a counter at the airport. You have to find someone who knows this at the airport and then call Avis in el centro 30 minutes away. Then they will send a free taxi to pick you up and bring you to the office in town, so plan on an extra hour. You cannot pickup or drop off a car at the airport. Otherwise, the service was friendly and efficient and the are cars new.

Good: The front desk staff helped as I picked up the car a day later than was previously scheduled. They were very helpful but it took a very long time. Bad: I returned the car after being on the coast. At the end of the drive back, the car had some residual sand/dust on it. The guy who checked in the car charged me $30,000 CLP for "cleanup". It was unjustified in my opinion.
Everything was ok, until our rental broke down due to electrical problem and stopped on a busy street. We waited for more than 3 hours for the tow truck to take the car and another 2 hours+ plus call back to the USA for the replacement car due to language problem. We ended up not pick up the replacement because it’s on the other side of the town and op for refund. In all fairness the local car rental company do whatever in their power to smooth down the situation but not effective.
