Festooned with balloons, garlands and neon signs blazing across the night sky, Pattaya’s Walking Street is anything but subtle. Disco beats make the ground tremble and the whole district feels like a huge, burlesque circus. It would be easy to do nothing but party here.
You can shop till you drop in the Central Festival Mall – it’s the largest beachfront mall in the whole of Asia.
However, step away from the centre, and you’ll find vestiges of ancient culture. Wat Nong Yai Temple is one of the oldest; an ornate pagoda in dazzling gold. Then there’s the city's tropical beauty – head to Jomtien Beach to find a tranquil stretch of sand beneath palm fronds, or visit North Pattaya for a whole host of watersports and beach bars. For a relaxed shopping experience, cruise through the canals of the Floating Market and take in the cultural shows along the way. One thing’s for sure: you’ll never be bored in Pattaya.
Pattaya has over 800 beer bars, so you could go to a different one each day for two years and still have some left!
