My initial quote for the rental was $155 for a week. Once I arrived at the Thrifty Office in David, Panama and got my bill it was $555.00 They came out wihh all kinds of rules regarding how much yhey would gave to hold on my credit card if didn’t take the “full coverage insurance.” None of g the his was divulged to me at time of reservation. I felt as though I was extorted out of $400 dollars since they knew I was in small towns with my family with very few choices at the time. WILL NEVER USE THRIFTY OR THIS BOOKING AGAIN. Deceitful. If you (KAYAK) wants prove (documentation) which supports my claim, I will gladly send you copies. Olin

I arrived to the Thrifty office showing my email confirmation and there was no car. Their argument was that internet is not reliable. I needed the car so just went to another provider nearby but had to pay double. Don’t book from one day to the other and don’t use Kayak.

They refused to honor the booking. They insisted they would not rent the car without the CDW, even though this kind of insurance is already provided on my credit card. They pretended the cdw was obligatory by law in Panama but it's not. Liability insurance is, but it was already provided in the quote. I rented a car successfully from Express, who do not try to scam tourists with hidden fees that triple the price of the rental.

The reservation was supposed to be a pick up from airport but the car was not there. I had to take taxi to the city and pick it up from another location. Staff at airport was rude. The vehicle had a broken trunk latch, I had to crawl through the back seats to open it from inside everytime, which was a pain in the a** with all the luggage.

I was astonished with how much the insurance that they require you to have is. It was just about more than the actual rental. This is something that should be told to us when we rent. Knowing beforehand would be very very helpful

Mandatory insurance costs are not included in the totals displayed online, so the price was ultimately much higher than anticipated. Also, they required renters to make the vehicle spotless inside and out or else pay a cleaning fee. Please also note the rental office is not inside Albrook airport as advertised - it’s not far away, but a bit confusing upon arrival.

When I went to pick up the car they wanted twice the price quoted on Kayak. Something to do with Insurance which I rejected. They insisted there was no choice for me...Panamian law. This should be quoted in the total price by Kayak. Very misleading. I had to pay a $1050 bond, taken from my credit card. Worst of all, when I returned the car, they deducted the rental cost from the bond and promised to refund the rest within 5 days. Instead they charged the amount to my credit card as a debit, not as a credit. I am still fighting for the refund some $US860. Never again.

The car was clean. They forced us to buy insurance even though I had it on my credit card. We had to upgrade the car because they didnt have the class car we ordered and they didn't have a car seat for my child.

I was giving back the car at the airport on February 19. They never told me the car place would be closed. I showed up with limited time to spare for my flight only to find no one there and no number to call. Rather there was a number, but every time I called nobody picked up Finally, I found somebody back in Chandler at the airport who understood who to call you called spoke Spanish to a number I didn’t know but he had a number and they told me to leave the car and leave the keys in the box in front of the office and have the camera take a picture that’s what I did and I assume and hope that will be no damages because there is no damages. I had no other choice because I had to get a plane. This is not a level of service expected from your company.

All ok apart from pricing. Booked one way ride and I was charged extra 200$ just for this. No indication during booking that the price can be so high. I've rented many times with different companies around the globe and always booking price was the one you pay. Minor adjustments such as insurance ok but not 5x more. Knowing this before booking would make me book Avis which had better drop-off location.

Hidden fees! The insurance was much more than any other country ($37 per day) and even though my quote said nothing about a one way fee it was.mandatory and $190. A total rip off!!!

They really push you to get all insurance through them. Even tho we had insurance with our credit card, their deposit went from $1,000.00 to $100.00 if we insured with the car rental company and they said we would not get our deposit back for 2-3 weeks.
