Don't try to book after hours with Hertz here. They have a self service after hours kiosk, but it's unlikely they will actually put your keys in there. We had to wait until the next morning to pick up our car. Cost us $80 in taxi/bus fees and we were not reimbursed for those or the lost time with the car.

Charged the account numerous times resulting in a block on the card and proceeded to be rude throughout the process of trying to figure a solution.

Our flight was delayed by several hours so they gave our car away and didn’t have another which could accommodate us. We had to find another rental company at the airport and as it was a last minute rental had to pay 2.5 times as much for a smaller car and a much worse rerun location.

Refused to accept booking. Would only allow us to take a car if we agreed to make new booking at more than double the price.

The vehicle(nice Volvo XC-90) they gave me had bad brakes and 2 bald tires. Once I figured out how bad the tires were I tried calling hertz to switch vehicles because I felt very unsafe with my family (wife, 4 year old, 1 year old, and brother) in the vehicle. They did not have a 24 hour number and the process to switch vehicles was ridiculous. They originally told me the only way to switch vehicles was to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic with me and have the mechanic diagnosis and fix it. If the car was not able to be fixed they would then tow the car back to the airport with me and switch vehicles. The manager of the Hertz Bergen airport location was/is horrible to deal with and I would not rent a vehicle from them again.
