Spent 1 hour in office not be able to pick up the car even we reserved couple days ahead just wasted the time

There was a notice in the booking that they'd hold the car for 2 hours yet when I arrived at 6:20 for a 6pm booking, and they were closed and said there was no car to give me. They said I could try show up in the morning and I might get a car then, but no promises.

Horrible location far from the airport. Car was disgustingly dirty not cleaned and no full tank of gas. Customer service didn’t care about any of this.

Hertz added additional charges and fees on at the time of check in so the quoted price I paid at time of reservation through Kayak was not accurate. Their check in staff also gave different answers at check in and argued about it in front of me. Also, Hertz grossly overcharged me for gas at return - for a whole tank of gas! I happened to have a photo of the dashboard at check in documenting the tank at 7/8 full (which matched what I wrote on the check in sheet), and had to spend an hour on the phone to get MOST (but not all) of the gas charge refunded. They still charged me for 1/4 tank of gas (which is not cheap at $10.99) a gallon. Overall, this was not a good experience, and I would be very hesitant to rent from this company again.
