I've rented from Budget all over the world with no problem in the past and had pleasant experiences. This time around, i rented the car, and selected the insurance and additional driver for the 8 day rental online when making my booking, and chose the "pay on arrival" option. On arrival, the employee tells me with a great big smile that the price on my booking wasn't possible, and that it was going to be far more expensive. He also tells me the issue was that i "booked with Budget World and not Budget Morocco". He proceeds to quote me almost DOUBLE what my listed price was in my confirmed booking. He explains that the price for insurance and additional driver listed in my detailed confirmation was the price for only 1 day (even though it's an 8 day booking), and therefore that my rental was going from ~230 euros to nearly 450 euros. When i laughed and told him that wasn't happening, we proceeded to negotiate (why is it possible to negotiate on a supposedly confirmed booking / service?). We ended up dropping the additional driver option since that was going to cost over 70 euros more than expected, and he proceeded to pretend not to understand us when we said "ok, then NO additional driver" even though we were speaking the same language. He did this THREE TIMES! "Ok, so insurance and 2 drivers?" Finally he smiled after the third time and finished the scam by asking us to sign our receipt and hand us they keys to our crumb-filled, scuffed and dented Fiat 500.
