When we arrived to pick up our reserved Full Size SUV, the counter person said they gave it away and we were a few minutes early. They scrambled and had to get a mid size from another company. We were moving from Oregon to Ohio and needed the full size. Then when we got home, we realized they charged us an additional $800, but we had already prepaid almost $1,000! After literally hours trying to get someone on the phone, they finally admitted they overcharged, but wouldn't refund until we returned the car in Ohio. We had to leave behind some things that wouldn't fit in the smaller vehicle. That was our hotel money, so we had to sleep in our car in 90 degree heat burning $6/ gallon gas. When returned it and told them in Ohio, they gave us grief about it, but eventually refunded the $800. I am contacting Hertz today to formally complain. Run away from Hertz!
There was an extra charge for a second driver. No other rental has asked this of me and my husband. Don't think I would choose Hertz a second time.

They worked through a crazy time to get us the type of car we needed to continue our trip in unpredictable weather.
