They did not have a regular gas car like we had reserved, our only option was an EV. We were travelling to rural VA so finding a charger added significant stress to our vacation. The staff were polite, but not helpful and did not seem to care about our frustrations. Their suggestion was to try other rental companies (who were already fully booked).

Hertz ran out of cars, and the customer service was very slow. They did give me an electric vehicle, all they had left, and something that I didn't order/didn't know how to drive. I would be hesitant to book at this Hertz again because apparently they didn't have enough cars for all reservations.

The staff was friendly and accommodated us when we wanted to change the type of car we had reserved. However, the location was terrible and no one answered the phone when I was trying to get directions. Google maps also had the incorrect location so we were walking around an unsafe neighborhood trying to find the car rental. The car we rented smelled like smoke, so we had to leave the windows open. At minimum, there should be more detailed information on the location of the car rental. There were multiple people who had the same problem.

Ordered the manager's electric special, Hertz was unable to provide a car with more than 18% battery charge, which is only a 60 mile driving range. Unlike internal combustion vehicles, the customer cannot just instantly refill the tank, it would have taken hours to charge. This is irresponsible and unacceptable. I cancelled the reservation and had to make different arrangements. On top of that, the Hertz agent does not have the ability to cancel the reservation, I had to call a 1-800 number and was assured that my refund would be processed in a few weeks. I'm not holding my breath.

Hertz was informed by me mid day that our train had hit a child and killed them in Kannapolis NC. We were 4 hours late because of this and they closed as we arrived and we did not get a car from them. The car was reserved with Dollar rent Car which is handled by Hertz but not at the Train Station only at the airport so no car the next day either. We have disputed the charge on our credit card and we will see what happens. The woman on the phone on the day of the reservation was one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. We will avoid Hertz in the future. I guess good help is hard to find and they are living proof of that.

Great price. We had to stand in line in the cold for 1 1/2 hours in the parking deck to get the car due to our train trip being canceled, but otherwise we had a great experience.

I am an incoming academician to the US. When I rented the car, i paid 82$ on the website of KAYAK in addition to 12$. However, Budget charged me $20 more during the renting. I should expect that such an action should be more obvious in your website.

There is no signage at Union Station to inform you where find Budget’s temporary office located in the parking garage since they closed their counter in the building. Although I had reserved a car just hours before, upon arrival they had no small vehicles and informed me that I could wait an indeterminable time in the open air garage at 35 degrees or pay for an upgrade to an suv. Having chosen the SUV so I didn’t have to wait for a car to be returned, cleaned, and brought up, the clerk who walked around to inspect the car completely ignored massive damage on the passenger side where a tire/wheel had clearly rubbed up against and dented/stripped paint on the door. Don’t trust them.

Pick up at Washington Union was horrible. Took 90 minutes in line for the staff to check in less than 10 people. No sense of urgency. Manual paperwork felt like the dark ages compared to other car rental companies. Would not use again unless they had the only available cars in town!

It was the absolute worst. I rented a compact car for one day to run errands. When I got there around 9am they didn't have any cars available and said the wait would be about an hour.They asked for my phone number and said they would call when the car is ready. I walked around Union Station for 45 minutes and then went home. By the time I got home they finally called and so I trekked back. Then they said the only vehicle available is a full-size Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. More than half day was lost and so I could accomplish what I needed to and I had to drive this huge inefficient truck in the city. Avis is the dumps, avoid if possible.
