Car Hire at Salt Lake City Airport

Not enough agents at rental place. Long waits.

The agent at checkout was able to monitor cars being returned to track down an AWD vehicle during a snow storm, which allowed us to reach our destination.

Why do they not send me a receipt afterwards and instead just charge me for it? How do I know what the charges were?

Exceeded expectations. Only concern is car displayed message that service is needed (probably just an oil change but nonetheless).

Closes at 11pm. My flight was delayed and had to pick up next morning. Car they gave me was not serviced properly

Pickup and dropoff were quick and easy and the vehicle was clean. I traveled for a ski vacation with a large ski bag and reserved an Intermediate SUV, a "Nissan Rogue" or equivalent. They gave me a tiny Chevy Trax and my ski bag would not fit in the vehicle without having the back seat and the front passenger seat in the down position. The Trax is much smaller than the Rogue and transporting the ski bag in it was inconvenient. How disappointing. Beware.

After waiting in line for an hour - along with dozens of others, we finally got to the desk only to be told that it would be a two-hour wait for a car despite having a reservation. When I inquired whether there were other vehicles available I was told that they only had pickup trucks currently. When I said that would be fine, the desk agent informed me that I would have to pay an upgraded rate. The desk agent was as kind and sympathetic and blamed the issue on the manager - who was nowhere to be found. We were able to walk next door to Enterprise and secure a vehicle at a cheaper rate in 10 minutes. The manager at Dollar in SLC needs to be fired.

When I arrived at the Budget desk, the wait was an hour as 2 of the 3 employees went away for 45 minutes. The online check in didn’t work through their website and app so express check in didn’t work. When I arrived at the desk, the attendant wouldn’t accept my physical MasterCard as it was and Apple Card through Goldman Sachs. She said that they didn’t do Apple Pay which is not how it works with the actual card. This was the card used for the reservation and there was no forewarning about card they would accept. They wouldn’t take another card number and when I asked to get an explanation or talk to another person, she turned off the computer in front of me and moved to another and called the next person in line. The customer service line had me on hold for additional 45 minutes without anyone picking up. I wound up having to rent from another company costing hundreds more and the 3 hour delay made it so I missed skiing that day which was the purpose of the trip. Very disappointing in general and the customer service overall was horrible.

Waited an hour in line only to be told by the extremely rude employee that there wasn’t a car for me unless I wanted to wait at least another hour for a car to be ready or pay double the rate for a different car. I walked over to Avis and got in a car in 10 min. Budget SLC lost my business forever.

Didn’t have the car we reserved. Car we got didn’t work.

Absolutely zero communication about where or what this place is prior to arrival. No communication about the need to provide insurance policy information. Terrible operating hours. The people are nice but that’s where the good ends. The car had damaged seats inside, damaged gear shift, expired plates, a loose rear view mirror.

Car rental location was off airport. Long walk to the shuttle pickup point. Return spot is better.

Van was older. Bummer was off a little bit. Sketchy pick up rental location.
