The staff at the Thrifty W 83 St New York is efficient and friendly. The car was fine. However, when we tried to add a day to our rental, it was impossible. At the various numbers we called , they told us that the only way to add a day to our rental was to go in person to Thrifty Corporate office, a preposterous offer. We gave up and did not add a day. When I told the staff at Thrifty W 83 St about this, while returning the car, they said they had never heard of such a policy.

Office closed at 3:00 pm on Friday. I assumed it was open until 5:00 pm I should have been contacted to let me know. The staff was exceptionally pleasant courteous and helpful. Great staff.

The front office was exceedingly efficient and helpful. I was an hour late returning my car, and it was my fault, so I declined the waived surcharged. I told him I should pay it. I have a business, too. Thank you for a great experience all around. The staff across the street receiving the return was also very efficient, knowledgeable, and professional.

I was given a car that smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. Thrifty charge $400 to those who smoke in their vehicles, but appear to make no effort to rehab the car and eliminate the odor. That left me having to endure the entire rental period with a disgusting second hand smoke smell. Noxious.

the cars, since CoVid pandemic began had been sanitized, but this rental car was not cleaned, on the inside although we're still in the pandemic. Which lends to a very uncomfortable ride. I wiped down the touchable parts and found them to be dirty and dusty. I also requested a compact car since there was one person in the car and gas prices. Also, some toll booths treat SUV's as trucks and charge more. One more thing, because the cars are not filled with gas, it's hard to pre turn the car with the amount you leave with. Your prices are astronomical and not compatible with the city in which we rent.

I was not impressed with the agent from whom I picked up the car. I thought she was rude and defensive. I get frustrated when the car that I pick up doesn't have a full tank of gas, and when I mentioned this, instead of listening, she immediately came back with "Well that's not our fault." She also yelled at me for arriving a little past my reservation time, when there were plenty of cars.

The car was obviously not cleaned. There was food all over the back seat. Garbage in the passenger side door, and foot prints all over the dash and the windshield which was just gross. I asked for some money back, but did not receive it.

Despite reserving a vehicle for 9 am, when I arrived at the pick up location I was told there were no vehicles available and that they expected one might come in (be returned by another customer) at 10 am. Having to get to a wedding starting at 11 am that was 1 1/2 hours drive from the rental location waiting until 10 am to maybe get a car then was not an option. Had to pay 4x more to get a last minute rental at another agency. What is the point of the reservation if they don’t actually hold a car to have it available? Also the custom service agent at check in did not even offer an apology. In fact she acted as though it was silly of me to expect a car to actually be available at the time of my reservation.

Pickup was great at w 76th NYC, dropoff was very uncomfortable though at TRI airport. None of the employees were wearing masks, the rental desk is inside of an airport, just past the giant signs that say masks are required.

The location was such a bad experience. Staff was cold and harsh. I didn’t bring the credit card I paid with and no accommodation but to call 1800 number and get back in line. Two hours later I finally get the rental and they take it away to give me another car. Then they take the car away to “wash” the car. Twenty minutes later I am almost in tears and beg them to bring me the car which they do and all they did was spray water on it. Car was disgusting inside! Worst experience ever.

Paid close $60 dollars for extending the drop off at time by an hour - disgustingly scandalous. Never had this problem with Enterprise.

Very kind people when I get the car only they gave me Short news about toll payment and it would be better explain something more, much more. In the sixth day I had to change car oli as it was requested by the car computer, so I lost half day, when I gave back the car I asked honestly pay and they told me write to contact centre. I wasn't happy about. Anyway I love Hertz rental, one of the best, it's twentieth time i rent with them, I'm sure they will improve
