Our experience was terrible. We booked online, and when we arrived we were told that their was no car available. No excuse, no alternative proposed nothing and left us at 10pm with no option than to take an hotel room at our costs and find by ourselves a different option. Disaster.
Rude shuttle driver, ride check in agent, no car available for an hour, when car arrived it was filthy with white paste smeared on the seats and trash from previous renter inside. Car had 80k miles, was 4 years old and had three different tires. Horrible

They didn't have any cars available when i went to pick up my reservation, so i never got a car. It ended up costing me hundreds of dollars because i had to uber upstate instead.

Thought the extra driver charge was a bit expensive. And I only needed it for one week but was charged the fee daily for my full contract. Would have appreciated a little flexibility on that.
I arrived about an hour earlier than my scheduled pick up time and the car I had reserved was not on-site. I was offered an upgraded vehicle for same price but had to pay for an extra day (for 1hr)-then proceeded to wait for 30 min for the staff to give me the keys to the vehicle that was easily seen in the parking lot. They did not tell me what the daily rate would be, nor did it show up on the small screen and I signed the rental agreement thinking it was an amended rental agreement to include my other reservation. I was very surprised to see later in the email the entire rental agreement that was for only one day and the cost was almost the same as for my initial multi day reservation. I had a similar issue at another Sixt rental location in Phoenix AZ in which there were additional fees that were added but I didn’t see them on the small screen. I think it would be helpful if they had full screens where we could see all the sections we are signing off on and then the list of charges with the total.

This rental facility has to be one of the worst in the country for being at a major airport. Pick up and drop off we’re terrible. Cars everywhere. Too hard to differentiate between Sixt and the other companies. Signs wrong. Horrible. Felt bad for the staff because the facility is terrible for them to do their job.

Diana at JFK airport was fabulous. She was courteous, patient and professional, and went above and beyond to find our family an appropriate car during a chaotic time when flights were cancelled. All the staff at the airport showed a genuine concern for customers and seemed to be very helpful

The representative at the counter was helpful but the manager put us in a $53 car when I had paid $69. All he had left was a cheaper electric car and didn't adjust the rate. I thought I was agreeing to a "manager's special" but it was actually a "manager's choice". He made a CHOICE to put me in a lower priced car at a higher price. It was only a two day rental so I only overpaid by $32. The other issue was that I was making a one way, 900 mile road trip and stopping every 200 miles and spending an hour recharging an electric car was unacceptable.

JFK Budget RAC was exhibit A of how a business with no manager operates. Walked into the location for a 12 noon reservation and there was total chaos- 50 to 60 people waiting in line ahead of us. 4 or 5 desk agents totally overwhelmed. People who were already checked in were waiting in a separate area for their cars. After nearly 2 hours of waiting in the queue, I checked in. Went to get my car only to find a person already sitting in the car trying to claim the car because they were waiting. I resolved that with the assistance of a lot attendant. While I was waiting in the queue my wife went around to othe car rental companies and saw none of them had this problem. Clearly Budget needs to get a new leader for JFK.

Awful experience entirely. Company closed the pickup location and had to pickup at another location far away in traffic, so was delayed by an hour and late for work. The return was even worse, since I called to confirm that the location closer to my home would be open, I got there and they were closed again during normal business hours. Now I had to drive down to the other Budget location, again in traffic and lost another hour of time, because they were so slow to return the car when I got there with 11 people in line waiting with 1 person at the counter. Then, they tried to charge me for an extra day, because I was a few minutes late, even though they had delayed me on the pickup time and the return. Totally unacceptable and lacking any knowledge at all of what customer service is. This is totally unprofessional and as a shareholder, it is completely alarming.

I waited 40 minutes for the van pickup at the airport to the dollar rental facility. Show up at the facility and only 1 person behind the counter and over 40 people in line. Waited over 3 hours to pick up the rental car. After customers started Getting upset the manager came out said he is looking for cars. Everyone lost their patience, the manager then said he can’t help behind the desk. Everyone was yelling and upset that he was not helping resolve the situation. Finally got a car over 4 hours later. The worst experience I have ever had

I can safely say I will never attempt to rent from Dollar again. In the midst of our calamity with a cancelled flight and lost luggage at JFK International Airport after traveling 3000 miles, Dollar failed miserably by allowing us to schedule a car rental on line. After feeling the relief of that rental transaction we come to find out upon arriving at the Dollar rental desk that not only your folks didn’t have any one-way rentals but didn’t have any rentals for us at all. Talk about the left hand not talking to the right hand. Additionally, your customer service rep was condescending with no sympathy for our plight. The rental was placed through Hotwire.

Terrible experience. The car wasn’t ready when it was supposed to be. Their cleaners went home or something. Had to wait 2 hours for the car. Then they overcharged me on tax for the rental. Then they started the rental before I even took possession of the car. Then when I tried to return it there wasn’t anyone there and they added 2 hours into my rental even though they are the ones who didn’t have anyone out there to receive it.
We reserved a car more than a month before our trip. When we arrived to pickup the car we went through the traditional paperwork. After a while we noticed many people waiting for their car. So I went to the counter to enquirer about my car only to find out that they did not have any cars available. We waited two hours for a car to be available. We got in the car and drove to the gate only to find out that the car couldn't be released due to mechanical issues. Again we waited for another car. The car we got had bald tires on it which I found out after inspecting the car the next morning.

Thrifty rejected my reservation due to no international driver's license, even though I could prove my Portuguese residence and provide a valid driver's license!!!
They canceled the rental car on me a few hours before we needed it to get my wife and I to a medical appointment we had flown across the country for.

The car and service were great. The only issue was that the car was listed as having unlimited miles, but when I picked the car up I was informed that Drive-O (the company I was sent to instead of Ace) only has unlimited miles in some areas and I would be charged a fee for driving with unlimited miles in another state.
