3rd party bookers (like Kayak) are not completely integrated with inventory on the ground held by the rental car companies. This was a problem for me (and others in line at the counter). I appreciate the referral on a consolidated search, but to avoid problems, I'd much rather book the reservation directly through the rental car company.

It was such a pleasure walking into the Rent-A-Car company, and immediately accosted with a beautiful smile and offer of coffee or drinks. What a pleasant experience.!! Everyone was delightful. Rented a Mercedes Benz in Miami and rain started to pour, I discovered that car didn’t have the blade in windshield wipers! It was missing and the wiper on the passenger side was not working!! Very dangerous!! Had to record a video because it was incredible to get a car in such poor basic condition. Very disappointed

The phrasing of 'up to 24 hours' in the cancellation policy is not clear. Attempted to cancel at least a week before scheduled pick up date. Emailed numerous times and reached out via phone (of which I was disconnected many times). The bottom line is Sixt charged $100 even though the cancellation request was made well before 24 hours notice. Also, response time from Sixt is slow.

My experience with dollar was horrible. When I got there I wait 1 hour in line then when I got to the desk they told my the car I rented wasn’t there. I would have to wait 2-3 hours for the car and if I wanted a different car it would be $75 a day. The person at the desk was smiling and laughing and the manager refused to talk to me. They finally gave me a van for an extra $10 a day which was more than I was supposed to pay but they refused to let me leave with a vehicle otherwise. Then they van broke down immediately leaving the parking lot. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

We made a reservation months ago, but when we went to pick up the car, they told us there was a 1-2 hour wait until they’d have a car ready for us. We had been lucky to have on-time flights, but then ended up with a two-hour “delay” because of the car rental! :( Staff was friendly, car was good, and drop-off experience was quick and easy, so it wasn’t ALL bad, but not a great start! The rep at pick-up also tried to upswell big time with the $75 gas tank and told us we may not be able to get gas near by because places have been running out lately (spoiler alert: we filled up around the corner without a problem). Her explanation of the insurance coverage was confusing too.

I made a reservation in October of 2022. When I got to the Dollar Car Rental location they had my reservation but no available car. I was told to go sit on the bench outside with the other people who were also waiting for cars. No one came out to speak with any of us. After 2 hours I went back in asking for an update. Very friendly, efficient and accommodating. The van we were supposed to take had a slight problem with one sliding door. They immediately set us up with another in a matter of minutes and we were on our way. The vehicle was clean, ran great and suited our needs. We would definitely rent from them again.

Paid for a specific class of vehicle (hybrid) and checked in, provided all information and was ready to pay when I was informed they only had a Nissan Sentra left. Obviously I know car rental companies don’t guarantee you’ll get the exact vehicle but if I booked for a hybrid that’s what I needed and I expected a hybrid vehicle of some kind. Waste of time and glad I didn’t pay ahead. They also asked for my insurance card and wanted to charged me an additional $90 for coverage which they stated was not optional. I’ve never been asked to show my insurance card when renting a vehicle before and typically additional coverage is optional.
